Sebastian Ellis: Dec 7, 2018
Sebastian Ellis is a 20-year-old singer, songwriter, and pianist based out of Toronto, Canada. His extensive repertoire covers a wide range of jazz, blues and rock ’n roll from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s, as well as an impressive selection of original material. An electrifying and charismatic stage act with great arrangements of popular songs and new material.
Roberta Hunt: Dec 8 & 15, 2018
With her personal and exuberant approach, Roberta adds her own voice to the jazz and blues repertoire. With a rootsy and bluesy style, Roberta was described by one music writer as “Mix big piano with beautiful voice, add some attitude and a lot of charisma. With a penchant for those you-done-me-wrong songs and her musical roots in the jazz and spirituals of New Orleans: a picture of Roberta Hunt starts to emerge…“. In addition to solo vocal/piano performances, Roberta stays active in the Toronto/Southern Ontario music scene with her Trio, Red Hot Ramble and swing dance group ‘Bertie and the Gents’. Roberta has also participated in the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans; Davos Sounds Good Festival, Davos; Rapperswil Jazz Festival, Switzerland; Jazz in Mortigliano, Italy as well as Southern Ontario jazz festivals over her career.
Jerry Leger Trio: Dec 14, 2018
At heart, Canadian singer-songwriter Jerry Leger is driven by a quest to convey in his own manner the purity embedded in the grooves of the vintage rock, country and blues recordings he so dearly loves. This trait attracted support from fellow singer/songwriters like Ron Sexsmith and his staunchest ally, producer and label head Michael Timmins of Cowboy Junkies, who signed Jerry to his label, Latent Recordings/Warner Music Canada in 2013. He has been called “one of Canada’s best” by Exclaim, a “gifted storyteller” by The Toronto Star and “One of the best Canadian songwriters” by Rolling Stone. His latest release, the Polaris longer listed Nonsense and Heartache is a 2-record set showcasing the two major musical sides of him. “One of the best songwriters I’ve heard in quite some time.” – Ron Sexsmith
